A few years ago, I told my girls (ages 5 and 7 at the time) that we’re not buying premade Halloween costumes this year. I’ve done that for the past couple of years and we’ve consistently been disappointed by the look, fit and lack of pizzazz that these costumes provide.

Every year, we make Homemade Halloween Costumes but I always get my inspiration from HalloweenMart. We start with something simple like a witch’s hat, some face paint, tights, etc. then have tons of fun by creating the “look” ourselves.

Invite your child to help with making his or her costume. Spending time creating these costumes together may end up being even more fun than trick-or-treating.
